PRODUCERS DANIEL AND MATT ARE ONES TO WATCH

Trafalgar Entertainment Producers Daniel Brodie and Matt Parritt have been named in The Stage 25, a “ones to watch” list that champions the next generation of theatre industry talent.

In a break from the tradition of publishing its usual Stage 100 most influential theatre list, The Stage has instead announced this new movers and shakers list to recognise individuals who the editorial team believe will play an important role in the theatre industry’s future and who could plausibly appear in The Stage 100 within the next 25 years.

Under the leadership of Creative Director Sir Howard Panter at Trafalgar Theatre Productions (TE’s production arm), Daniel and Matt have become two of the UK’s most exciting and prominent theatre producers.

During their time at TE, Daniel and Matt have produced eleven shows in the West End ranging from The King and I at the London Palladium to ground-breaking new productions such as Misty and Nine Night (both of which were nominated for multiple Olivier Awards). They are currently working on a slate of exciting productions that range in scale including the five-star smash hit musical revival of Anything Goes that enjoyed a 15 week sold out season at the Barbican Theatre (that was produced and rehearsed during the pandemic, and the first major new musical to open once restrictions were lifted in London); Death Drop, the comedy murder mystery starring some of our finest drag performers which was presented in the West End and on tour in the UK; a new international tour of The Rocky Horror Show and the tenth anniversary UK & Ireland tour of the acclaimed play, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, with The National Theatre.

Daniel and Matt were also instrumental in helping the theatre industry to recover post lockdown with the TTP team deciding early on during the pandemic that it was important to be part of the first new productions to re-open – thereby helping to employ thousands of people as early as possible and signalling to theatregoers that our industry was running again.

Daniel and Matt said: “We are truly thrilled to be recognised by The Stage in this way – especially alongside our brilliant industry peers featured in this list. The past two years have challenged our industry like never before and as producers we’ve been pushed to our limits, creatively and strategically. After a long period of industry uncertainty, we’re excited to keep working with our talented colleagues to produce many more shows.”

Prior to joining Trafalgar Entertainment, Daniel worked at the Royal Court Theatre as Associate Producer under the auspices of the Stage One apprenticeship scheme. At the Royal Court, he worked on the commercial transfers of Royal Court shows to the West End and Broadway, as well as securing multi-year partnerships with organisations such as Bloomberg. During this time, Daniel also founded and ran his own production company, Daniel Brodie Productions, which produced shows across London and the UK including the hit The Patriotic Traitor at the Park Theatre, Facts by Arthur Milner and Brenda by E. V. Crowe. Daniel has also worked as a producer for the Tricycle Theatre, Eclipse Theatre, ATG and Mongrel Thumb.

Before beginning a producing career with Trafalgar Entertainment, Matt was a specialist theatre and film lawyer at Harbottle & Lewis, one of London’s leading media and entertainment law firms, advising clients such as the National Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company, Secret Cinema, Monty Python, DreamWorks, Universal Pictures and Disney on a range of commercial, legal and business matters.
