Trafalgar Entertainment’s Joint CEO Dame Rosemary Squire has been announced as the second keynote speaker at The Stage’s Future of Theatre Conference this April.
Rosemary joins fellow headline speaker Indhu Rubasingham, whose words will coincide with her official springtime commencement at the National Theatre. Rosemary’s speech will be delivered against a backdrop of rapid growth for Trafalgar Entertainment. In the past six months alone, the company has acquired Fareham Live, Bradford Live and a three-venue complex in Eastbourne.
Rosemary said: “I’m delighted to be speaking at The Stage’s Future of Theatre Conference this year. It’s always good to come together with industry friends and share in our collective cultural experiences, especially during such challenging times. I hope the perspective of my decades of experience in the industry can add some value to the day.
“We must continually remind the Government of the value of what we all do and what great value British theatre is – in terms of employment, our contribution to the economy, our general well-being, and by providing a sense of community and belonging to millions of people across the UK.
“And our industry has survived the odds. We’re resilient, steadfast, and adaptable to change and when faced with challenges and times of uncertainty, we come back stronger. We really punch above our weight, and we should all be proud of that. It’s something our country does phenomenally well.”
Matt Hemley, The Stage’s Deputy Editor, said: “Hot on the heels of announcing Indhu Rubasingham as one of our keynotes at this year’s Future of Theatre conference, we are delighted to share that Trafalgar Entertainment’s Rosemary Squire will also be a headline speaker.
“To have two of theatre’s most powerful figures bookending our event promises to make it an unmissable conference. Rosemary will share her wisdom from years of working in the sector and founding two of the most powerful companies in the industry – Ambassador Theatre Group and Trafalgar Entertainment. We can’t wait to welcome her.”
