Dartford’s Orchard West has been shortlisted for the Innovation Award at The Stage Awards 2025.

When The Orchard Theatre was forced to temporarily close in 2023 due to the discovery of RAAC concrete, the Orchard team, Trafalgar Entertainment and Dartford Borough Council worked tirelessly to find a solution to keep theatre alive in Dartford. That innovative solution was to build a state-of-the-art temporary venue, Orchard West, which was conceived, constructed and opened within the space of three months.

The Stage says: “Orchard West stands as a remarkable example of innovation and adaptability. The venue was conceived, designed and fully operational within just three months. Nor was it a restrictive stopgap; it is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including advanced sound and lighting systems. The venue’s technical infrastructure also reflects a commitment to environmentally conscious solutions.”

The winner will be revealed at The Stage Awards ceremony on January 20 at the Royal Opera House’s Linbury Theatre.
