Britain’s most prestigious stage honours – The Olivier Awards – returned in spectacular style tonight (10 April) at the Royal Albert Hall in London, two years since the last ceremony, and there was a big win for Trafalgar Entertainment’s critically-acclaimed 5-star smash hit musical – Anything Goes – which enjoyed a record-breaking 15-week sell out run at London’s Barbican Theatre last summer.
Huge congratulations, therefore, to Kathleen Marshall, winner of the Best Theatre Choreographer award for her amazing show-stopping, toe-tapping routines on Anything Goes!
The Olivier’s audience was also treated to a special performance of title song ‘Anything Goes’ by new cast member Kerry Ellis and the cast of the 2022 Tour.
The 2021 production of Anything Goes starred Broadway and West End royalty Sutton Foster, Robert Lindsay, Felicity Kendal and Gary Wilmot.
Anything Goes returns for a Spring UK Tour with a brand-new cast. Kerry Ellis stars as Reno, alongside Simon Callow (Whitney), Dennis Lawson (Moonface) and Bonnie Langford (Mrs. Harcourt). Returning cast are Carly Mercedes Dyer, Haydn Oakley, Nicole-Lily and Samuel Edwards.
The tour opens this week in Bristol (w/c 11 April), and will visit Liverpool, Edinburgh, Dublin and Manchester before returning to The Barbican Theatre for a second summer season.
Producer Sir Howard Panter said: “We are beyond thrilled that Kathleen’s spectacular choreography for Anything Goes has been recognised by the Olivier Awards in this way.
“As one of the first major productions to open in London after lockdown, Anything Goes has enjoyed a phenomenal year, with a 15-week sell out run at The Barbican, record-breaking box office results, various awards and accolades, a Christmas television broadcast on the BBC and a global cinema release which went on to become the highest grossing cinema theatre event of the year in the UK. This Olivier Awards win is the icing on the cake.
“And from this week, UK audiences can now enjoy the glorious set design, breath-taking choreography, stage direction, and of course the wonderful score as our award-winning production sets sail across the country with our wonderful new cast.”
