War Horse, the unforgettable theatrical event based on the beloved novel, is currently on a multi-country international tour as a co-production between The National Theatre and Trafalgar Theatre Productions. 

Directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, Nick Stafford’s adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s remarkable story of courage, loyalty and friendship, about a young boy called Albert and his horse Joey, set against the backdrop of the First World War is the most successful play in the National Theatre’s history.

 It features ground-breaking puppetry work by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, which brings breathing, galloping horses to life on stage.

War Horse is currently playing at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre in Australia until 8 February, before it visits Sydney Lyric Theatre, Australia (15 February – 15 March), Perth Crown Theatre, Australia (24 March – 12 April) and the Esplanade Theatre, Singapore (24 April – 10 May), with further international dates to be announced.

During the Melbourne run, the cast have also expressed their deepest sympathies for those affected by the bushfires and urged people to donate to the WWF fundraising campaign to raise money to help save wildlife and restore the forests once the fires have cleared.

War Horse, which has now been seen by eight million people worldwide, completed its record-breaking eight year London run at the New London Theatre in March 2016. It has won 25 awards including the Tony Award for Best Play on Broadway and has been seen in more than 100 cities in 13 countries, including productions on Broadway, in Toronto and Berlin, with touring productions in the UK and Ireland, South Africa, North America, Australia, the Netherlands, Belgium, Japan, New Zealand, France and China.
