Triumphant year for Trafalgar Theatre Productions with twelve Olivier Award nominations
The producing arm of Trafalgar Entertainment, Trafalgar Theatre Productions, has been nominated for a total of twelve Olivier Awards across five of its co-productions it has been announced today (5 March).
The nomination tally includes six nods for the critically acclaimed multi Tony Award winning smash hit, The Lincoln Center Theater production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The King and I, following a sold out record breaking season at the world famous London Palladium. The nominations are for Best Musical Revival, Best Actress in a Musical (Kelli O’Hara), Best Actor in a Musical (Ken Watanabe), Best Actress in a Supporting role in a Musical (Ruthie Ann Miles), Best Theatre Choreographer (Christopher Gattelli) and Best Costume Design (Catherine Zuber).
The production is about to embark on a major UK and international tour starting next month which includes Tokyo, India and the Sydney Opera House.
Two sell-out ground breaking new British productions at Trafalgar Studios also receive two nominations each. The Bush Theatre’s Misty for Best New Play and Best Actor (Arinzé Kene); and the National Theatre’s Nine Night, recognised in the categories of Best New Comedy and Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Cecilia Noble).
Other nominations include Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Adam Gillen) for Killer Joe and Best Actress (Eileen Atkins) for The Height of the Storm.
