Howard Panter and Rosemary Squire built from scratch and ran for its first 25 years, one of the world’s largest and most successful live theatre businesses – the Ambassador Theatre Group.  Under their leadership, ATG became a premier international theatre owner and prolific, successful global producer. ATG has more theatres than any other group worldwide.

Productions and co-productions at ATG at this time included The Ruling Class starring James McAvoy, The Homecoming starring John Simm, Oresteia, Pedro Almodovar’s Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown starring Tamsin Greig, East is East starring Jane Horrocks, Richard III starring Martin Freeman, Jersey Boys, Macbeth starring James McAvoy, The Hothouse starring Simon Russell Beale, Posh, Jumpy and Constellations (Royal Court at the Duke of York’s), Legally Blonde the Musical, Monty Python’s Spamalot, The Rocky Horror Show, South Pacific at The Barbican, Matthew Bourne’s Nutcracker!, The Misanthrope starring Damian Lewis and Keira Knightley, West Side Story, Guys and Dolls starring Ewan McGregor and multi award-winning West End musical Carmen Jones.

Productions on Broadway included The Mountaintop starring Samuel L Jackson and Angela Bassett; Exit the King starring Geoffrey Rush and Susan Sarandon and John Doyle’s award-winning production of Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd: the Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Howard and Rosemary have now created a new company Trafalgar Entertainment, which owns and operates Trafalgar Studios, two theatres under one roof in the West End. Productions this Autumn include the transfer of two sell-out ground breaking new British productions: the Bush Theatre’s Misty and National Theatre’s Nine Night. In 2017 the company acquired Trafalgar Releasing (formerly Picturehouse Entertainment) who broadcast productions live worldwide, from The RSC, Glyndebourne, Met Opera, Bolshoi Ballet to David Gilmour, Muse and more. In 2018 TEG went on to acquire Stagecoach Theatre Arts, the UK market leader in extra-curricular Performing Arts tuition. With nearly 700 schools and over 45,000 students, the new acquisition offers growth opportunities both in the UK and internationally.

The production arm of their new company, Trafalgar Theatre Productions, is producing a group of new shows in London and internationally including the Lincoln Center’s award-winning production of The King and I at the London Palladium, The Rocky Horror Show worldwide and recently at Trafalgar Studios the new British musical The Grinning Man, Apologia starring Stockard Channing and Killer Joe starring Orlando Bloom. In addition to the UK Tour of Vulcan VII with Adrian Edmondson and Nigel Planer, co-productions include Mary Stuart starring Juliet Stevenson and Lia Williams at the Duke of York’s, Jersey Boys UK Tour, the UK Tour and London season of The Messiah starring Hugh Dennis, John Marquez and Lesley Garrett and The Height of The Storm at Wyndham’s Theatre starring Jonathan Pryce and Dame Eileen Atkins.

Sir Howard Panter is a prominent theatre owner / producer and one of the key figures in the arts and entertainment industry with over 40 years’ experience gained in organisations such as The Royal Court Theatre, The Royal Shakespeare Company and Michael Codron Ltd.

Howard’s latest venture with his wife Dame Rosemary Squire, is Trafalgar Entertainment, a live entertainment business and home to Trafalgar Releasing (formerly Picturehouse Entertainment), Stagecoach Performing Arts, Trafalgar Studios and Trafalgar Theatre Productions.

In 2017 the company acquired the market leader Trafalgar Releasing who broadcast productions live worldwide, from The RSC, Glyndebourne, Met Opera, Bolshoi Ballet to David Gilmour, Muse, Coldplay, BTS and more. In 2018 Trafalgar Entertainment went on to acquire Stagecoach Performing Arts, the UK market leader in extra-curricular Performing Arts tuition with nearly 700 schools and over 46,000 students in the UK and worldwide. The largest shareholder of Trafalgar Entertainment is BaringsAlternative Investment, which operates as a subsidiary of MassMutual HoldingLLC, with assets under management of US$771 billion. Prior to Trafalgar Entertainment, Howard was co-founder, Joint CEO and Creative Director for the Ambassador Theatre Group Ltd (ATG), the world’s number one live-theatre company with almost 50 venues in Britain, the US and Europe. He and Rosemary remain the second largest shareholder of ATG. Under his leadership, ATG became from scratch one of the most prolific, broad-based theatre producers in the worldwith productions in the West End and on Broadway including touring productions in the UK, North America, Europe, Australia and Asia.

Howard is a Director of the Rocky Horror Company Limited. He was Chairman of The English Shakespeare Company, Director of West End theatre owners Maybox Group plc and Chair of Rambert Dance Company, the UK’s leading national contemporary dance company, who under his Chairmanship successfully built their award-winning new dance centre on the South Bank and led the company into a new era of success and stability.

Rosemary Squire OBE is the most prominent woman in British theatre of the modern era.  Under her leadership, Ambassador Theatre Group became the world’s largest live-theatre company with 46 venues in Britain, the US and Australia and one of the world’s most prolific theatre producers.  Now, she is moving into a new creative phase with a new venture based at Trafalgar Studios.

Rosemary is the only woman ever to have won the EY UK Entrepreneur of the Year Award and in 2015, she became the first woman ever to represent the UK at the World Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.

She is a National Member of the Arts Council England Board, Chairman of the Board for Sonia Friedman Productions and Joint Chair of The Hall for Cornwall. She has raised over £5m as Chair of Great Ormond Street’s Theatres for Theatres Appeal and is about to chair another major appeal for the hospital. As President of the Society of London Theatre, she became the second only female President in the organisation’s history. She won the prestigious CBI Real Business First Women Award for Tourism & Leisure and was awarded an OBE for Services to Theatre.

Widely respected in the industry, Rosemary and Howard topped The Stage 100 for seven consecutive record-breaking years. They have also topped the Evening Standard ‘Power 1000’ Theatre section and Rosemary was one of the 100 women on the inaugural BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour UK Power List in 2013, appearing at number 16.

Rosemary has also been awarded Honorary Doctorates from Southampton University and De Montfort University in recognition of her achievements as a theatre entrepreneur.  In 2018, she was named Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in The Queen’s Birthday Honours list for services to Theatre and Philanthropy.
